This film is based on the true experiences of the famous outlaw couple Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow in American history. During the Great Depression in 1930, Bonnie Parker (played by Faye Dunaway) sees Clyde Barrow (played by Warren Beatty) stealing her mother's car at her mother's house in a small town in Dallas, Texas. Clyde instantly falls for Bonnie, boasting that he has been imprisoned for armed robbery and robbing a local grocery store in front of her. The two then embark on a life of crime together, robbing their way through Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Oklahoma, eventually recruiting mechanic Moss (played by Michael J. Pollard) and Clyde's brother Buck Barrow (played by Gene Hackman) along with his wife Blanche (played by Estelle Parsons) to form the Barrow Gang, becoming notorious in the process. The film received eight nominations at the 1968 Oscars, including Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Costume Design, Best Director, Best Picture, and Best Screenplay, winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress (Estelle Parsons) and Best Cinematography.
