On their way back from visiting his mother's grave, Shinji (voiced by Megumi Ogata) and Misato Katsuragi (voiced by Kotono Mitsuishi) encounter an attack from the Seventh Angel. In a critical moment, Unit-02 triumphantly defeats the enemy, and Shinji meets the pilot of Unit-02, Asuka Langley Shikinami (voiced by Yuko Miyamura). Unlike the taciturn Rei Ayanami (voiced by Megumi Hayashibara), Asuka is confident and even somewhat conceited, leading to many humorous incidents during their time together. The three of them pilot Unit-00, Unit-01, and Unit-02, respectively, to withstand the fierce attacks of the Eighth Angel, and during this process, faint feelings subtly begin to bloom in the hearts of these three young men and women. Soon after, the Ninth and Tenth Angels arrive one after another, thrusting Shinji and his friends into a brutal test of life and death... This film is the second part of the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy.
