In the rural countryside of Texas, an aging cowboy named Moss (played by Josh Brolin) discovers several bodies, bags of heroin, and $2 million in cash while hunting antelope. Moss decides to take the drugs and cash for himself, hoping to change his life, but soon finds himself being pursued by the cold-blooded killer Chigurh (played by Javier Bardem), putting him in a perilous escape. Meanwhile, local sheriff Bell (played by Tommy Lee Jones) is investigating a series of murders and trying to ensure Moss's safety. However, Bell feels powerless and despairing as he fails to track down the heartless killer, putting Moss's life in serious jeopardy. While reminiscing about the glorious past of his forebears, Bell deeply feels the tragedy of being left with no support in reality.
