Fast food worker A-Yin (Stephen Chow) encounters A-Li (Christy Chung), who is practicing Japanese karate at a martial arts training hall, and falls in love at first sight. After being humiliated by the martial arts coach Lin Guobin, who also likes A-Li, A-Yin, feeling too weak, decides to apprentice under Uncle Da (Ng Man Tat), who calls himself the "Devil Muscle Man." Initially, Uncle Da just wants to trick A-Yin out of his money but is eventually moved by his kindness and determination, and begins to teach him ancient Chinese martial arts. A-Li is intercepted by bad guys, and A-Yin, wearing a Garfield mask, comes to her rescue. In a moment of desperation, he rolls down from a high platform with the thug, creating the "Invincible Fire Wheel," only to have Lin Guobin take credit afterward. To prove his strength, A-Yin signs up for a fighting competition to duel Lin Guobin, hoping to win A-Li's heart.
