Director of Urban Construction Committee, Tang Yijie (played by Zhang Songwen), falls to his death at a relocation site during an eviction mobilization. Young officer Yang Jiadong (played by Jing Boran) is assigned to investigate the case and thus meets Tang Yijie's wife, Lin Hui (played by Song Jia), and daughter, Tang Xiaonu (played by Ma Sichun). Through Tang Xiaonu, Yang Jiadong learns that the relationship between Tang Yijie and Lin Hui was not harmonious; in addition, Lin Hui had previously suffered from schizophrenia.
