Manmo (Luis Fernando Peña) lives with his parents in the small Mexican town of Santa Ana, relying on farming for a living. Del Rio Water Company has built a dam on a nearby river, causing severe water shortages in the entire region. The high price of water drives desperate farmers to steal water from the dam. The company's headquarters in the United States employs pilot Rudy (Jacob Vargas) to remotely control drones via a mental link to protect the dam by attacking "terrorists," which results in the destruction of Manmo's home and the death of his father. Grieving, Manmo leaves his hometown for the border city of Tijuana where he looks for work and meets writer Luz (Lennor Varela). Luz helps Manmo connect with a "node," allowing him to remotely control robots across the U.S. for heavy manual labor in factories. As Luz deepens her contact with Manmo to continue selling his story, the two fall in love. However, the person buying Manmo's story on the other side of the network turns out to be Rudy…
