Annie (played by Scarlett Johansson), a New York University graduate from a working-class family, is determined to become a successful career woman, guided by her mother's hopes. However, just as Annie feels lost about her future, an unexpected event disrupts her life path when she finds a nanny job caring for the four-year-old son, Grover, of a wealthy family on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Unfortunately, the well-paying job turns out to be more challenging than she anticipated. Besides dealing with the capricious and mischievous Grover, Annie is responsible for various household chores while hiding her job from her mother. The wealthy family isn't as glamorous as it seems; Mr. X is busy making money and not present at home, while Mrs. X is preoccupied with shopping, grooming, and socializing, sometimes nitpicking Annie's work. The couple neglects their son Grover, and signs of marital strain emerge. At this point, a charming rich kid, Harvard (played by Chris Evans), enters her life. Will Annie be able to navigate her role as a wealthy family's nanny? Where will her relationship with Harvard lead...?
