Afghan Muhammad (played by Vincent Gallo) encounters three American soldiers in the desolate mountains and, in a panic, kills them with the weapon in his hand. Muhammad is captured alive by the arriving American troops and subjected to interrogation and abuse in an American prison. During transport, the military vehicle has an accident, and in the chaos, Muhammad unexpectedly gains his freedom. He kills passersby in the freezing cold, steals vehicles and clothes, and kills military dogs while being pursued by the Americans. In the deserted forest, Muhammad survives by eating tree bark and engages in a desperate struggle for survival. Amidst the onslaught of snow and ice, he faintly recalls the past and mystically perceives future events. Muhammad's path of escape is marked by almost random killings, and the harsh living conditions drive him back to a primal state...
