This film is based on certain historical facts and real-life prototypes, telling the story of the spring of 1938, after Luzhou fell, where descendants of the famous late Qing General Liu Mingchuan, the first governor of Taiwan, fought wits and courage with Japanese invaders to protect a rare treasure—the Guo Jizi White Plate, one of the three great bronze vessels of the Western Zhou, with the help of the New Fourth Army. It is understood that the Guo Jizi White Plate is currently the largest and heaviest bronze vessel from the Shang and Zhou dynasties in existence in China. In 1950, it was donated free of charge by Liu Su, the fourth-generation descendant of Liu Mingchuan, and is now housed in the National Museum of China.
