Once, Jones (Tommy Lee Jones) had to leave his family behind and follow an Indian tribe for survival. Now, old and weary, he has finally returned to his hometown, but instead of a long-lost warm family, he is met with the news of his wife's death and the coldness of his daughter Maggie (Cate Blanchett), who is already married. Although Maggie holds resentment towards her father, her daughter Lily (Evan Rachel Wood) is particularly affectionate towards her grandfather. However, misfortune strikes this family as Lily is kidnapped by criminals, and Maggie's husband Brick (Aaron Eckhart) is also killed by them. To retrieve her daughter, Maggie and Jones resolutely embark on a journey of revenge, but they are not only faced with brutal criminals but also the deep rift between father and daughter.
