Recently divorced from his wife, Lucas (played by Mads Mikkelsen) currently works at a daycare. His kind-hearted and gentle personality quickly wins the affection of both colleagues and children. Among them, a precocious girl named Clara (played by Annika Wedderkopp) becomes particularly close to Lucas. Faced with the girl's childish and innocent affection, Lucas can only gently refuse her. However, he soon finds that this act will thrust his life into turmoil. Clara's vengeful lies lead to Lucas being accused of child molestation, and he suddenly becomes the target of ostracism and oppression in the entire town. The anger of friends, the distrust from his ex-wife, the death of his dog, and the malice from strangers push Lucas to the brink of collapse. When little Clara eventually reveals the truth, the malice does not cease even after Lucas regains his innocence.
