In the 1950s and 60s, Dr. Henry West (played by William Mapother) founded the Atticus Institute, a parapsychology laboratory that researched fringe sciences such as supernatural abilities, clairvoyance, telepathy, and psychokinesis. Despite facing countless setbacks and ridicule, Dr. West remained steadfast in his pursuit of knowledge. In 1975, his laboratory was forced to close due to a scam, at which point a somewhat neurotic woman, Judith Winstead (played by Rya Kihlstedt), was sent to the lab. She had gained supernatural abilities due to an injury, and her seemingly genuine powers quickly astonished the knowledgeable scientists. Throughout this process, Judith’s abilities continued to intensify, reaching a level of uncontrollability. This went far beyond the realm of supernatural powers, with the shadow of a demon occasionally surfacing behind the mystery…
