In the wetlands of Camargue in southern France, a majestic white stallion escapes from the abuse of its owner. A young boy, Folco (played by Alain Emery), takes it in and becomes its friend. The owner searches everywhere, hoping to capture the runaway white horse. The boy and the horse willingly flee for their freedom... This film, directed by Albert Lamorisse in 1953, is a representative work of the "poetic fantasy" genre that emerged in France after the 1950s. It won the Best Short Film award at the 1953 Cannes Film Festival and the Jean Vigo Prize for Short Film in 1953.
