Husband-and-wife duo Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Sam Taylor-Johnson are collaborating again. They will adapt the "notorious" bestselling book "A Million Little Pieces," which tells the story of drug addiction, into a film, with the husband set to star and the wife to direct. The couple previously worked together on the film "Nowhere Boy" (which is also how they fell in love). The project "A Million Little Pieces" has a dramatic backstory: the original work by James Frey was a bestseller and became a target for major film studios after its release in 2003, with Warner Bros. acquiring the adaptation rights that same year, featuring producers Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston, and Brad Gray. However, before the film was completed, Frey was embroiled in controversy in 2006 when it was revealed that the book, marketed as a "memoir," contained a lot of inaccuracies, as Frey embellished his experiences. He was subsequently labeled a "big liar," and Oprah Winfrey, the host of the "Oprah's Book Club," who chose the book, claimed to feel deceived; the film project then became a hot potato, undergoing numerous upheavals. Nevertheless, the story itself is indeed captivating, telling of the male protagonist who wakes up on a plane bound for Chicago and begins his rehabilitation. The book's presentation and analysis of people struggling with addiction, alcoholism, crime, and despair is shocking.
