Martial arts superstar Wang Yu breaks away from his past heroic image, portraying a cynical young man in a modern setting for the first time. Yang Guoliang (Wang Yu) is the son of Inspector (Tian Feng), who is obsessed with work and still investigating his wife’s death, creating a rift between them. Guoliang meets the dancer Mei Lin (Xing Hui), and both having lost their mothers, quickly start living together. Guoliang, having run out of living expenses, gambles at a club and is deceived out of a large sum of money by Chen Biao (Gu Feng), who then assaults Mei Lin. In a fit of rage, Guoliang kills Chen Biao and is pursued by the police; later, Inspector Yang is forced to fatally shoot his son, leading to a tragic ending.
