This film is an action movie self-written and directed by Chu Yuan (pen name Qin Yu) in 1980, starring Ti Long, Bai Biao, and Jing Li. The story is adapted from Zhu Yu's martial arts novel set in the early Republic of China, which tells the tale of Deng Biao (Ti Long) who, after a failed black market deal, forces a martial artist named Gao Ming (Wang Rong) to reveal the person behind the setup. Gao claims it was the work of the Black Panther, and is then shot dead by Deng, resulting in Deng being sentenced to fifteen years in prison. After his release, Deng seeks revenge on the Black Panther but encounters the powerful Ge Baye (Bai Biao) who obstructs him. Meanwhile, Shang Lin (Jing Li) is searching for her husband who has been missing for fifteen years and wants to ask Deng about the whereabouts of the Black Panther. However, both have only heard of the Black Panther by name and have never seen him; so who exactly is the Black Panther?
