The black flies breed in large numbers in the Bronx, New York City during the summer. The film is adapted from Shannon Burke's novel "911," published in 2008. The story is set in New York City and follows young nurse Ollie Cross as he partners with experienced doctor Rutkowski, reexamining the meaning of life and death while facing the harsh realities of drugs, crime, and violence, ultimately changing his outlook on life.
