In the mid-1980s, America was under Reagan's conservative regime and was experiencing the AIDS crisis. "Angels in America" tells the story of a group of New Yorkers who wander between life and death, love and sex, heaven and hell, struggling to survive and fight against the backdrop of this society. Tony Kushner's "Angels in America" is considered one of the most important plays of the past few decades. The play is divided into two parts, lasting over seven hours in total, and premiered at the National Theatre in London from 1992 to 1993, winning multiple awards including the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It is both entertaining and moving, sharp and insightful, using imaginative methods to explore themes of love, pain, illness, death, faith, and politics, still thought-provoking even 25 years later.
