Rachel (played by Anna Chancellor) is a wealthy and kind woman who has adopted five children. One day, she is found murdered in her home, and the police discover the fingerprints of one of her adopted sons, Jake (played by Anthony Boyle), at the crime scene. Jake is considered the prime suspect and is arrested. However, just as the trial is about to begin, Jake dies in an accident while in jail, sealing the conclusion that he was the murderer.
