The continuous war between Autobots and Decepticons has caused tremendous damage to Earth. In response, countries around the world have united to form a response team that aims to eliminate all Transformers, regardless of their allegiance. Cade Yeager (played by Mark Wahlberg), a human closely associated with Optimus Prime, defies the opposition from those around him and the pressure from the government to provide sanctuary for Autobots like Bumblebee and Crosshairs. During this time, he inadvertently acquires a badge, drawing crisis toward himself. The missing Optimus Prime drifts back to Cybertron, where he is captured and corrupted by Quintessa, the creator of the Transformers, who commands him to return to Earth to seek the supreme staff to destroy the planet and revive Cybertron. Meanwhile, Megatron strikes a deal with the Earth government to jointly pursue Cade and his allies, also targeting the staff that once belonged to the wizard Merlin. The real crisis on Earth has finally arrived...
