"The Color of Justice" is adapted from a true story that caused a sensation across the United States. The film tells the infamous wrongful conviction case of five teenagers known as the "Central Park Five," who were wrongfully sentenced for rape. This four-episode limited series will focus on the five teenagers from Harlem: Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, and Korey Wise. The story begins in the spring of 1989 when these teenagers were first questioned about the rape incident. The narrative spans 25 years, culminating in their exoneration in 2002 and a settlement agreement with New York City in 2014. The series is created by Ava DuVernay, who also serves as the co-writer and director of the four-part drama. Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King of Participant Media, Oprah Winfrey of Harpo Films, Jane Rosenthal, Berry Welsh, and Robert De Niro of Tribeca Productions will collaborate with DuVernay as producers under her Forward Movement banner. In addition to DuVernay, Attica Locke, Robin Swicord, and Mike Starr are also credited as writers for the limited series. The cast includes Emmy-nominated Michael K.
