Mai Mido (played by Yuki Chibasaki) was born into a family of detectives; her father, Shiro (played by Masei Shio), was once a prominent figure in the police force. Shuhei Katagiri (played by Kazuki Sawamura) is Mai's partner and also a former disciple of Shiro; the two complement each other perfectly in their collaboration. A man named Chikichi Kato (played by Tatsuya Kaneko) is found dead on the Kushiro snowfield, and Mai and Shuhei take over the investigation, only to discover unexpected ties between Kato and Shiro from the past. Soon, a second body emerges, that of a taxi driver named Nobuo Takigawa (played by Toru Shinagawa), and a female company president, Sayuri Mizawa (played by Kimiko Yuki), also gets involved in the case. Just when the situation becomes increasingly complicated, a mysterious woman appears and makes a confession of guilt.
