"Whisky Galore" is a 1949 comedy film produced by Ealing Studios, based on the novel by Compton Mackenzie. The film and the novel are based on the real events of the 1941 shipwreck of the S.S. Politician near Eriskay, where local residents unlawfully took whisky from the stranded ship.
