This is a story of a Tokyo man over 20 years. From his hometown in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, Shota Sato comes to study at a prestigious private university in Tokyo. After learning that his girlfriend is seeing a wealthy older man, he vows to climb higher in Tokyo and expresses the sentiment, "Women are ultimately for money." After graduation, Shota secures a job at a top trading company, enjoying a life rich in both career and love. However, as he reaches middle age, he faces defeat in a career rivalry with his diligent colleague, Kojima, and breaks up with his girlfriend who desires a partner earning over 30 million yen annually. This experience leads him to reassess his beliefs. During this period, he develops a supportive relationship with Ruriko, and they transition from colleagues to lovers, allowing Shota to rediscover the meaning of living in Tokyo.
