Raees (played by Shahrukh Khan) grew up in a small town where alcohol was banned. His impoverished life sharpened his exceptional intellect, and his mother's actions taught him the ways of survival from a young age. To earn money to support his family, Raees teamed up with the local liquor supplier, Jigarats (played by Atul Kulkarni), thus becoming a smuggler. Although Raees made a good amount of money through Jigarats, he was actually being controlled and exploited by him, which left Raees quite dissatisfied. Ultimately, Raees paid a heavy price to break free from Jigarats and began to carve out his own business empire. His every move caught the attention of the police officer, Majmudar (played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui), who believed that Raees would eventually reveal his true colors and that he would one day capture him.
