Zombies, demons, and a mad doctor await a group of people searching for Aztec ruins. Father O'Sullivan is a Catholic priest who has lost his faith in God and cannot forget the nun with whom he had an affair (and a son). O'Sullivan serves as a guide for archaeology student Carl, New Age Wilbur and Clarice Laming, runaway Laurie, and tourists Duzos and Frost during a bus trip in Mexico. To O'Sullivan's surprise, his lover Tacy boards the bus with her son Evan. In Mexico, Carl reveals his knowledge of an important ancient text, coinciding with the Day of the Dead. Meanwhile, the evil Dr. Um-tzec is plotting his own deification, ultimately to become the god of death, needing to complete the sacrifice of children's hearts... many, many hearts. As Father O'Sullivan struggles with seeing Tacy again, Dr. Um-tzec approaches him for an exorcism; but...
