Michelle (played by Melissa McCarthy) grew up living under the roof of others and has seen the ups and downs of life, which made her arrogant and eccentric. After growing up, Michelle finally achieved the position of boss through relentless effort, but she is extremely harsh towards her employees and treats clients with a condescending attitude. Soon, Michelle's cynicism leads to trouble, and she is sentenced to eight months in prison for insider trading. After being released from prison, Michelle loses everything, and all her friends and partners avoid her. At this critical moment, her former assistant Claire (played by Kristen Bell), who had been mistreated by Michelle, extends a helping hand. Thus, homeless Michelle becomes Claire's roommate.
