In 1956, director Alain Resnais uses a camera to lead the audience back to Auschwitz. The former site of the Nazi concentration camp is now a peaceful and beautiful countryside. However, rewind to 1933 when the Nazi Party came to power, and the whole city was shrouded in gloom—rows of constructed barracks stand neatly, and many Jews are rounded up and subjected to inhumane torment and humiliation in the camps.
