A masterpiece by Italian western film maestro Sergio Leone, this nearly three-hour epic, following his collaboration with Clint Eastwood on the "Dollars Trilogy," is often regarded as the greatest western in film history. The story revolves around a mysterious stranger (Charles Bronson) who arrives in a small town and gets embroiled in a land feud between a widow (Claudia Cardinale) and a railroad tycoon. The most intriguing character is played by the usually heroic Henry Fonda, who remarkably takes on the role of a cold-blooded killer, displaying almost no expression throughout the film, save for the occasional twitch of his lips that sends chills down the spine... Upon its release in the United States, the film was cut by distributors due to its excessive length, resulting in a muddled narrative that left much ambiguous.
