This film is adapted from the beloved children's book of the same name by Lois Duncan. 16-year-old orphan Andy (Emma Roberts) and her brother Bruce (Jake T. Austin) are taken in by a family that, however, does not allow them to have pets. They can only settle their little dog "Friday," who is their only companion, in an abandoned hotel.
