Desolate and bleak, a stark contrast to the metropolis. In this forlorn town, two individuals from different backgrounds meet. One is a moderately successful film director in Tokyo (played by Iwai Shunji), who cannot face the immense emptiness and loss he feels, yearning to temporarily escape the fame and fortune to find the motivation and passion for creation; the girl (played by Fujitani Ayako) wears a red raincoat and carries an umbrella even on sunny days, always declaring tomorrow is her birthday. As if driven by fate, the director approaches the girl's life and turns the lens towards this spirit who hides countless thoughts and sorrows. He follows her through the rooftops of derelict buildings and the basement where she resides. Irritation, hatred, sorrow, sadness, joy, and loss intertwine, binding them tightly together... This film is adapted from the novel "Escape Dream" by the lead actress Fujitani Ayako.
