The story takes place in Showa 38, when Shuhei Fujisawa was just an unknown young reporter. Shuhei Fujisawa and his wife, Yoshiko, were very affectionate towards each other. Unfortunately, Yoshiko passed away, leaving behind a young daughter in need of care. Her death plunged Fujisawa into despair, making him realize the preciousness of familial bonds. He then brought his mother to live with him, cherishing their time together while also having her help take care of his daughter. One day, Yoshiko returned home from kindergarten looking dejected.
