In an ordinary residence, an elderly man and the director of a nursing home die unexpectedly. The police, through on-site investigation, initially determine that the elderly man was killed by the director, who is a pathological gambler in heavy debt. Following this, nursing home employee Saba Zondai (portrayed by Kenichi Matsuyama) is questioned as a person involved. However, female prosecutor Hiromi Ohtomo (played by Masami Nagasawa) discovers during her investigation that the death rate of the elderly cared for in Saba's area is surprisingly high, with every case deemed a natural death, coincidentally occurring on the days that Saba was on leave. He seems to have a perfect alibi, but Hiromi senses something ominous.
