Young Lee Jong-su (played by Yoo Ah-in) aspires to be a writer and supports himself with part-time jobs. His father, who runs a livestock business, is not well-versed in human relationships and is embroiled in legal troubles, forcing Jong-su to run around trying to rescue him. One day, Jong-su reunites with a former classmate, Shin Hae-mi (played by Jeon Jong-seo), at a large shopping mall. Hae-mi plans to travel to Africa soon, and asks Jong-su to take care of her beloved cat, Boil. Shortly after Hae-mi returns home, she gets off the plane with a man named Ben (played by Steven Yeun). Ben drives a Porsche, lives in a luxury apartment, and appears to live a carefree life, enjoying leisure and having no visible job, making him seem worlds apart from Jong-su. For some reason, Ben enters the lives of the ordinary Jong-su and Hae-mi and shares his unusual hobby with the new friends. After one night of gathering at Jong-su’s home, Hae-mi seemingly disappears without a trace… This film is adapted from Haruki Murakami's short story "Barn Burning."
