His brother Pat (Ed Helms) is doing well in his career and is married, but he is facing a marital crisis with his wife, Linda (Judy Greer). One day, Jeff receives a wrong number call and encounters a high school student on the bus, whose jersey coincidentally bears the name of the person the caller is looking for. Obsessed with the movie "Signs," Jeff sees this as a sign and follows the student off the bus, only to get robbed. Wandering the streets, he unexpectedly runs into his brother Pat, and the two also find Linda dining alone with another man, prompting Pat to take Jeff on a quest to uncover the truth about Linda's "affair." A chaotic day unfolds as Jeff's "sign" leads them on a wild adventure...
