A young boy named Carl Fredricksen, who cherishes a love for adventure, encounters a tomboy named Ellie. Ellie turns the whole house into a giant spaceship for games, which oddly captivates Carl, and their shared interests ultimately lead them to become lifelong companions. They dream of one day exploring the "Paradise Falls" in South America, but this dream remains unfulfilled until Ellie's passing. One day, the elderly Carl, who once sold balloons, unexpectedly lifts his house into the sky with colorful balloons, determined to achieve the dream they never realized. To his surprise, he has an uninvited guest, a young boy named Russell, who claims to be a "wilderness explorer." Carl finds Russell's incessant chatter particularly annoying. The unlikely duo faces numerous challenges during their flight, finally reaching the legendary "Paradise Falls." Throughout their journey, Carl discovers that Russell is actually an adorable child. While walking through a forest, they encounter a giant bird named Kevin, who cannot fly, and a talking dog named Dug. To Carl's astonishment, they also meet his childhood idol, the adventurer Charles Muntz, only to find that Muntz is a villain who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals.
