This series is a prequel to the 1982 film "The Dark Crystal," consisting of 10 episodes exploring the world of Thra. The film primarily tells the story of the Shattering of the Dark Crystal thousands of years ago, creating two races: the terrifying Skeksis—who use the remaining power of the Dark Crystal to sustain their lives—and a group of kind and gentle wizards known as the Mystics. The cruel Skeksis are obsessed with immortality, and the last two surviving Gelflings, Jen and Kira, must embark on an adventurous journey with the last remaining shard of the Crystal to restore it and prevent a catastrophe that could destroy their world. The series will tell the story of three young Gelflings who uncover a terrifying secret, igniting an uprising against the brutal Emperor.
