An Takashi Ziyin (voiced by Ayako Kawasumi) has a very tragic childhood; her parents were brutally murdered, and she became the only eyewitness as a child. Due to excessive trauma, Ziyin lost her ability to speak and became mute. The professional shogi player living next door, An Takashi Nobu, cannot ignore the homeless Ziyin and takes her in. Thus, Ziyin arrives at the An family and begins her shogi training. Ziyin meets trustworthy companions on her journey in learning shogi, including the wealthy lady Nikaido Saori (voiced by Risa Mizuno), the cross-dressing Saito Ayumu (voiced by Romi Park), and the gentle and kind Kutsuki Toru. Meanwhile, Ziyin has never given up on uncovering the truth behind her parents' deaths; she vows to bring the bloodied murderer to justice.
