A curious little girl, Oji-ti (also translated as Jicena), enters the maze door behind a grandfather clock with her big fat cat. In the vast maze corridors, she follows the shadow of a clown in white and thus becomes an observer of two stories. One story is about the world-famous racer Jack Hu, whose cause of death in a car rally remains a mystery; the other is about Sugano Ben, who is sent to Project 444 to deliver a stop-work order. As the only human among numerous out-of-control robots, he decides to destroy everything to halt the project, but his superior sends an order to continue supporting it... This film, originally titled "Manie—Manie Labyrinth Story," is an experimental animated work consisting of three short stories: "Labyrinth Story," "The Running Man," and "Stop-Work Order." Each part has a distinct style and an independent plot, thus the overall work cannot be said to have a complete narrative, with the little girl serving as a thread that runs through this dialogue-scarce ensemble. Each story in the film is handled by different production teams, resulting in varied character designs, expression methods, and scores. The entire film is filled with language-like metaphors, blending surrealism and realism, creating a hazy and eerie atmosphere throughout. In addition, the visual effects of the three parts are exquisite, with excellent attention to detail.
