15-year-old high school student Takao Akizuki (voiced by Yuriyu Inuyama) is focused on his studies but must work to earn a living. His mother has left home, and he lives with his brother, unable to see a clear future. On the first day of the rainy season, Takao skips class and goes to a Japanese garden. There, he notices 27-year-old office worker Yukari Yukino (voiced by Kana Hanazawa), who is eating chocolate and drinking beer in a quiet little pavilion. The two seem familiar with each other, as if they’ve agreed to meet whenever it rains, escaping the troubles of the world in this hidden corner of the urban jungle. During the rainy season, their hearts gradually draw closer to each other. Aspiring to be a shoemaker, Takao decides to make a pair of shoes with Yukari as his model. After the rain, the sun shines brightly, and the garden doesn't see Takao and Yukari for a long time; their meetings are both uncertain and inevitable...
