If the cherry blossoms fall at a speed of 5 centimeters per second, how long will it take for two hearts to draw closer? In their youth, Takaki (voiced by Kenji Mizuhashi) and Akari (voiced by Yoshimi Kondo) were inseparable friends, but soon an enormous chasm opened between them: Akari transferred schools, and Takaki moved to distant Kagoshima due to his parents' job transfer. Before the move, Takaki traveled a long distance on the Shinkansen to meet Akari. After a long wait, amidst heavy snowfall, they embraced tenderly under the wilted cherry blossom tree and shared their first kiss, promising to come together again to see the cherry blossoms. As time passed, the two never saw each other again. Although they searched for each other in the bustling crowd, it always seemed in vain. Eventually, they each led their own lives, but they occasionally dreamed of their sweet and beautiful relationship at the age of 13, only to realize that the word they could never utter back then was love.
