Willy the whale has returned to his rightful home, and Jesse (played by Jason James Richter) has grown up to become a member of a coastal research team, but their story is not over yet. A boy named Max (played by Vincent Berry) has a father, John (played by Patrick Kilpatrick), who is an illegal whaler. Sometimes, when John is chasing the whales through the tumultuous seas, he takes Max along, which creates a conflicted feeling in Max towards whales.
