Reine Iwakura's classmate, Chisa Shikata, committed suicide. The unexpected suicide left her classmates in confusion. A week later, Reine received a text from Chisa. Despite being dead, Chisa began communicating with Reine through text messages. Back home, Reine started contacting Chisa using the computer her father gave her. When asked why she committed suicide, Chisa replied, "Because I no longer need my body. Without a body, I can continue to live within the wired network." Confused, Reine continued to investigate Chisa's case and uncovered a huge secret hidden within the wired network, along with mysteries surrounding her own past. Faced with the truth in the cyber world, Reine kept hearing Chisa's words: "I exist in the wired, because God is there."
