Hayato is in great shape at the 12th tournament. However, during the 5th match, the British Grand Prix, Hayato crashes with Randall. This was caused by Hayato awakening to the sensation known as the "ZERO domain," which heightens a driver's every nerve to the extreme, leading him to be overwhelmed by his own feelings. Hayato, who sustained serious injuries, focuses on rehabilitation for the rest of the year.
