Yamada Kyou (voiced by Sakamoto Maaya) and Yamada Asu (voiced by Kaneda Tomoko) are a pair of very close sisters. Although their mother passed away early, their lives could still be considered carefree under their father's love. However, ever since their father vanished after accumulating a huge debt, their beautiful life came to an end, and the Yamada family fell into dire straits. In order to make ends meet, Kyou took a part-time job delivering newspapers, while the diligent and sensible Asu, at such a young age, took on the household chores and seized every opportunity to earn extra money to help with expenses. The sisters' lives are quite tough, but fortunately, they are surrounded by a group of kind and enthusiastic friends. Their cold-hearted but warm landlord Hayakawa (voiced by Maihama), their novelist neighbor Saegusa Ranko (voiced by Hiramatsu Akiko), and the older single man Ichinokura Masao (voiced by Kishio Daisuke) all do their best to help the poor sisters. Kindness and love are being passed around in this small town.
