Folklore scholar Ichinomiya Kantarou (voiced by Yuuki Miyata) takes on a part-time job of exorcising youkai while writing. His innate powerful inspiration provides ideal conditions for his side job. Working with Kantarou is a fox spirit named Youko (voiced by Rinko Kawakami), who must obey all of Kantarou's commands as she was given a name by him. During an accident, Kantarou unseals the "strongest food demon Tengu," Haruhana (voiced by Takahiro Sakurai), who loses her memory and subsequently becomes Kantarou's capable assistant. A child disappearance incident occurs in Sugino Village, and the only survivor also loses their memory. Kantarou is commissioned to investigate this matter, only to find everything in the village feels familiar, and the truth of the incident seems to be intricately connected to Haruhana's identity.
