This film is adapted from the essay collection "The Interesting Antarctica Chef" by Jun Nishimura, who served as a chef for the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition based on his own experiences. Jun Nishimura (played by Masato Sakai), originally a seaman chef, is dispatched to the icy Antarctic Dome Fuji Base to cook for seven expedition members, while his wife (played by Naomi Nishida) has to raise their 8-year-old daughter and newborn son alone. In the frigid Antarctic, eating becomes the biggest joy in the monotonous lives of the seven team members—glaciologist assistant Taishi Kawamura (played by Kengo Kora), meteorologist Masahiko Hirabayashi (played by Masakazu Kohama), communicator Akira Nishihira (played by Daisuke Kuroda), doctor Masashi Fukuda (played by Kohei Toyohara), meteorologist and team leader Hiroshi Kaneda (played by Yasuhiro Kobayashi), pilot Ken Mikoshiba (played by Koji Fukuda), and glaciologist Hideyuki Motoyama (played by Katsuhisa Namase). Jun Nishimura goes to great lengths to cook a variety of delicious dishes, and around the theme of food, the eight lonely men also experience countless amusing life stories. This film won the Best Actor Award at the Yokohama Film Festival (Masato Sakai).
