Adapted from the short stories "Capone's Loud Cry" and "Roosevelt's Loud Laugh" in the novel of the same name by Kajiwara Tokiyuki. Al Capone is the head of the Chicago mob who grew up during the Prohibition era in the United States. At that time, there were many Chinese and Japanese laborers in places like Chicago and San Francisco, which over time formed their own gangs, controlling certain territories. A member of a Japanese theater troupe, Shun nosuke, aspired to become a Noh actor and apprenticed under Tajima Uemon, where he was introduced to the geisha Koyome. Koyome, having betrayed her husband, was marked with a terrifying octopus tattoo on her back. Koyome agreed to introduce him to Uemon under the condition that Shun nosuke would be her lover. Following Uemon's suggestion, Shun nosuke traveled to the United States, while Koyome, to escape her soon-to-be-released violent husband, accompanied him to America as a music teacher. Upon arriving in the U.S., they discovered they had been deceived by an intermediary, with Koyome falling into prostitution due to gambling and Shun nosuke becoming a beggar. Among the various forces in America, there was a legendary figure known as Gun Tetsu, who, after boss Yoshida was shot, took control of the Japanese gang and ran several casinos, brothels, restaurants, and bars. After becoming the boss, Gun Tetsu made Koyome manage the brothel and introduced Shun nosuke to an upscale nightclub, exposing him to American song and dance performances where he met Lilian. However, Shun nosuke remained fixated on developing his Noh performance, hoping one day to have his work heard by the president. At that time, San Francisco was a city intertwined with violent desires, and Al Capone sent his brother Frank Capone to monopolize the resources for bootleg liquor, while Gun Tetsu’s "authentic Cisio" whiskey became a thorn in the Capone brothers' side. Gun Tetsu, Shun nosuke, and Koyome began to clash with the Capone forces. In the end, Koyome died in a car accident, Gun Tetsu succumbed to pufferfish poisoning, and Shun nosuke asked Lilian to help him commit seppuku, ending his life.
