The film is divided into four segments that tell the story of the friendship between two girls with different values and lifestyles. The simple and passionate Renette (played by Joëlle Miquel) is a country girl, while the lazy and dark Mirabelle (played by Jessica Forde) comes from Paris. The first segment is titled "Blue Time" and describes their first encounter. Mirabelle rides her bike to the countryside for a trip but ends up with a broken bicycle. Country girl Renette helps her fix it. The two girls develop a fondness for each other, enjoy their conversation, and decide to go to university together in Paris. The second segment takes place in a café, where Renette is mistaken for a female con artist by the waiter and is put in a difficult position. Mirabelle arrives and helps her out, but they have very different approaches to the situation. In the third segment, they discuss differing viewpoints on social outcasts such as beggars, thieves, and con artists. In the final segment, they make a bet: whether Renette can stay silent for a day. As a result, Renette pretends to be a mute girl, and Mirabelle successfully sells her painting to an art dealer.
