In a corner of the city, there is a Polar Bear Cafe. The owner running it is, of course, a polar bear (voiced by Takahiro Sakurai). Guests range from humans to animals, with a diverse clientele. Among the regulars are a panda (voiced by Jun Fukuyama) and a penguin (voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya). They often sit at the bar, sipping coffee and chatting about the latest news. The panda works part-time at the zoo, enjoys rolling around, eating bamboo leaves, and hopes to spend the day in leisure, fearing being vacuumed by his mother. The penguin is secretly in love with Miss Penguin from a bakery; he learns to drive with the hope of someday taking her for a ride and is preparing for a confession, unaware of the disastrous aftermath of it. The polar bear occasionally chimes in with cold jokes, creating stories filled with twists that are hard to distinguish from reality. Besides that, the Polar Bear Cafe also features a frequently overlooked alpaca, a gray bear who runs a bar on a motorcycle, a working girl named Sasako, animal caretaker Mr. Handa, and a flower shop owner, Linlin, who is a panda enthusiast… Everyone revolves around the Polar Bear Cafe, playing out heartwarming stories full of cuteness.
